on... " A thug turned painter..."
... the iland was a blast today
house filled with little dogs
nice kids and a old thug turned painter...
who's work left me thinking about
time and tennis shoes,
and a girl looking out over
a shining valley filled with bulging fog...
A good painter
hidden in a middle earth like place.
Used to ride a motorcycle
and liked beating people up,
so he did.
Gave me a beer,
asked if I was in need of a dog,
a wood stove,
or a boat ride around the iland...
he thanked me for making his studio a
a better place to look forward to in
the mornings...
" I'd forgotten I had this view.." he smiled.
I told him I would put his link
up on this here site...
He asked me what a " site " was...
" Nothing ..." I said.

Boss is in town. He's in the studiomovin' things around and puttin' things outside...

There are people around me that

If the paintings don't get painted
the paintings don't get homes....

There are so many things going on
My mind is south, the trucks over
on the west side hywy, boss is here
and sleeping in my studio til noon
Dog's fine, all the leaves stik to her,
so little raking...My mind is in the
south though...
Alot of folks in Spain lately, readin'
my words. I'm sayin' nothing.
Nobody panic. Life here is reasonable.
I work and paint, am writing

and clearing my souls dust devils
out with good folks, good food,
good sleep...I'm good.
No, really. everyone relax...
take a breath...gooood.

Voice's from Granada...

...A brother connects with me today,
a good day for a good memory...
July 1999 Granada
...I sat in the Bib Rambla,
selling the early painting's to tourist's
and a few that would later sell them to
another thus creating the chain...
Musta been 40 degrees hot,
a white southern spanish sun white
too white wiltin' the flowers
in the plaza...
My hero's came here to paint.
They surely said the same thing...
" Too bloody white, where's my damned glasses...?"
...I had the front of the old "Garcias" children's
clothing store. Señor Gracia had bought a painting
from me and gave me permission to use the space...
Blessed ? You bet.
...Nothing.
7 day's I sell nothing.
Nothing.
This bald brother and his beautiful girlfriend stop.
She likes this one.
He likes these and these and that one togeather...
We talk and sit in the shade of our lives
here in Granada and the tourists
Morrocco and Paris...
the Alhambra and the hash....
They invite me to their house,
but I had to catch the last bus
up to my village...
They gave me 9000 pesetas
for " that painting..."
I can't remember what it was...
But, something that looks like
that one above there...
The girl wrote the address in my book.
I wrote mine in his...
I never went there.
...My village was little
Güéjar Serria,
200 souls
that tolerated this poor,
but soon to be famous artist...
Pilar was there, sane and beautifully
complicated . We said we would stay there forever,
forever or a year...we went to Lisboa,
another tale all together...
The train used to go thru Güéjar in the 40's,
people used to come up to buy pig's
and goat's...all cut up,of course...
and morcillas and chorizo and
jamon...the view to Serria Nevada
was amazing...
My landlord charged 3000 pesetas
a month for this
massive 300 year old house
made of stone's as big as a
washing machine...so the were..
He was 1000 year old man with a herd
of goats up the mountain about 8 kms...
He walked there everyday, so he did.
Smoked Ducados and drank alot
and was a fine human, so he was.
I had not forgotten those cool folks,
nor that cool place...
It's still on the list of options.
The list of places that didn't suck at all,
and where everything stays the same...
